High Park Physiotherapy, Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Centre provides over 45 years of experience in treating musculoskeletal conditions!
Physiotherapists are University trained health care practitioners with a highly advanced understanding of body mechanics (how we move), the injury and illness that prevent appropriate movement, and how to restore lost mobility. Our expert Physiotherapists have advanced Orthopaedic skills and training in the assessment and treatment of a broad range of conditions affecting not only the joints and muscles of the body (musculoskeletal system), but also respiratory, nervous, and circulatory systems. Often, one system is affected by injury or illness to another. Our level of expertise is unparalleled, allowing us to apply over 45 years of experience in rehabilitative medicine to your health restoration.
Our Philososphy
At High Park Physiotherapy, Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine we incorporate over 45 years of experience, combined with a multi-disciplinary and evidence-based approach to restoring your health. You will be seen by our expert Physiotherapists who will determine the underlying cause of your injury whether it is due to a predisposition such as arthritis, an imbalance in your muscles, or an injury. Our Physiotherapists have advanced Orthopaedic training and a deep understanding of the working nature between injury and health, and in collaboration with our other health care specialists will customize the best possible treatment plan, and give advice on how to restore your level of function. Our goal is help get you back to what you enjoy most, whether it be on the golf course, or to enable a leisurely stroll through the park. Whether you are an elite athlete, a weekend warrior, recreational athlete, or simply want to get back to your walking or gardening, we have the tools, skills, and experience that can help. We create customized exercise prescriptions and programs to minimize or eliminate your dysfunction and offer expert advice on how to best manage your injury, disease or disability.
What to expect on your first treatment
During your initial visit or ‘assessment’ (60 – 90 min.), a detailed history will be taken of your overall health level, including any past injuries, surgeries, or areas that concern you. The Physiotherapist will then examine your existing injury and thoroughly assess your joints, movement (body mechanics), muscles, bones, and soft tissue to determine the cause of injury, and recommend a treatment plan to alleviate your pain and discomfort and restore your level of functioning. This treatment may involve any combination of manual therapy, including ART – Active Release Technique, modalities, exercise programs, and education. If you have undergone any tests – Xrays, MRI’s, Ultrasound etc - please bring the test results with you. Please wear lose fitting clothing for your appointment.
Education and Prevention
Our Physiotherapists not only assess and treat your condition but also place a large emphasis on education and prevention. We encourage and teach our patients to take an active role in their recovery and give them the tools to recognize early signs of injury, and avoid further damage.
Make an appointment
A Doctor’s referral is not needed in order to make a Physiotherapy appointment with us, although we do receive a large number of patients who have been referred to us by their Family Doctor, Rheumatologist, or Orthopaedic surgeon. Many insurance companies do not require a Doctor’s referral for coverage. Please call us at any time to make an appointment, we are honoured to serve you. Remember – you don’t need to see a Doctor to see a Physio !
